Recognizing the widespread challenges faced by women in the United States with hormonal issues, The Balance app addresses these often-overlooked concerns. Designed to provide personalized guidance, Balance empowers users by offering tailored advice aimed at naturally balancing hormones and improving overall well-being.
Through this project my aim was to navigate and find a solution to my how might we question, how might we help individuals who menstruate to balance their hormones naturally? While also addressing a series of sub questions including: How can we make information easily accessible and digestible? What lifestyle changes can be made to balance hormones? How does food, exercise, sleep, anxiety, and chemicals affect our hormones? The audience for this application is any individuals who menstruate as well as parents/caregivers who want to use the app to help their children.Through this project my aim was to navigate and find a solution to my how might we question, how might we help individuals who menstruate to balance their hormones naturally? Goal:
App to empower and educate individuals who menstruate to balance their hormones naturally.
Who:
For people who are looking for an alternative to typical menstrual care and don't have access to resources and support.
Conducting user Research
My first stage was to gather secondary research, which consisted of articles and books that covered a wide range of topics including bias women face, improving health through exorcise and diet, getting harmful chemicals out of the body, and fixing the menstrual cycle.
In my primary research I chose to conduct a survey and several interviews to gather user needs and common pain points. I found that 90 percent of those surveyed have experienced symptoms of a hormonal imbalance and most participant said they would benefit from lifestyle advice that catered to their specific menstrual needs. based on the data irregular cycles, irregular mood, and severe pain were the 3 most common concerns.
